Background
I'm a senior software developer based in Richmond, Michigan with over 25 years of experience in the industry. Since founding Ahearn Consulting in 2008, I've built custom software for organizations that can't afford to get it wrong — county government departments managing public services, healthcare companies handling protected patient data, and businesses whose operations depend on the systems I build.
Twenty-five years of building software for high-stakes environments gives you an appreciation for doing things right. When the systems you build handle protected health data, run government operations, or power a company's daily workflow, there's no room for shortcuts. It has to work, it has to be maintainable, and it has to be built by someone who understands the stakes.
That same approach carries into everything I do — whether it's architecting HIPAA-compliant infrastructure, building a custom business application, helping a company rank on Google, or integrating AI into an existing workflow. I understand the technology deeply enough to make the right tradeoffs, and I care enough about the outcome to build it properly.
